your popular source of news and intelligence from Uganda
A big thank you from Radio Katwe
Last updated : 07 June 2007, Kampala

The management of Radio Katwe would like to thank all those people who have dedicated their time as informers, sources, reviewers and specialist cross-checkers of the information published so that Ugandans and the world can have an accurate picture of what has been taking place in Uganda.

Many of you are in the NRM insiders, the army and intelligence organizations and many of you are in different walks of life in Uganda and abroad. Every information you send us we read.

Sometimes if you see us taking long to publish it, it is not because we don't like it but because we are waiting for the input of different people before we pull it together and put it on the website.

Also, we first have to check the reports to see if they are credible or accurate. This takes some good time for obvious reasons. Sometimes its not safe so we dont want to hurry anyone in the team and make a big mistake because it can be deadly.

So unfortunately you can find some information by a source sitting in our newsroom for many weeks or months.

Today we want to thank in a big way the different people who have sent us information on Lt. Colonel Jacson Rwahama and Major General Fred Ibingira of the RPF in Rwanda.

It is too, too important and we have no words to express our thanks. The world will know one day why we were asking to know about the two men. It is quite a big and terrifying history lesson for both Ugandans and our brothers and sisters of Rwanda. We have suffered so much together.

But there is still something very specific we still need some help. It is about code names.

You know in the army they dont use the real names when they are using radios to talk to each other in a situation like war.

So when the Rwandese Patriotic Army (RPA) which was composed of Rwandese and some Ugandans was fighting to capture state power in Rwanda its officers had code names which they used to identify themselves in the radio communication.

We have some RPA/RPF radio code names which we want our readers to help us to identify and verify. We know the code names but we want to know the real person who used that code name.

For example we know the code name "Sixteen Charlie" or "16 Charlie". It was used by a guy who was called Lt. Bosco Rumenera. He died in that war.

Other code names which we are interested in are
"Sungu-Sungu",
"Four Nine Romeo" ("4-9-Romeo"),
"Double Five" ("5-5"),
and "Two Zero Nine" ("2-0-9").

Who were the RPA/RPF officers who used these four code names Sungu Sungu, 4-9-Romeo, 5-5, and 2-0-9?

Our brothers in Rwanda and also Uganda who fought in that war can help us. We will be too happy and appreciate if you remember these numbers and you can send then in to us. If you have a relative or friend who worked in signals you can request them to help us. When the story is complete and you read it, you will be satisfied that at least you played a part in bringing this history to light.

Use the "write to us" button on the front page of our website or send us an email or a file. Any way you feel free to use it.

Thanks "very many"!
