Letter to Mr. Kazini
Last updated : 17 June 2008, Kampala

Dear readers, this is a letter to Gen Kazini sent to us by a reader.

Some little background information: Gen Kazini is a soldier with long experience, he has been in the armed forces since Amins time. We are not sure when he joined, it maybe in 1974 or 1975. But at least he was at Kabamba barracks at the same time as Brig. Kasirye Gwanga in 1975.

When the regimes of Amin and Tito Okello were overthrown by the Tanzania army plus Ugandan exilees and NRA respectively, the fallen armies retreated northwards, up to, and sometimes through West Nile to Sudan.

The Uganda National Rescue Front (UNRF) was formed round about the same time as NRA in early 80's to oppose the Obote II regime. They were based in West Nile district and volatile border areas with Sudan/Congo. It was headed by the current Lt. Gen. Moses Ali.

Now onto the letter in full:

Mr. Kazini, I think you feel so bitter about how Mr. Museveni treated you, diregarding all the good things you have done for his regime and his closest relatives. You feel so betrayed by the man you thought would reward you by your good actions and intentions. Mr. Kazini, before you blame Mr. Museveni, I would wish to remind you of how you mistreated people who got you out of danger or did for you very great things at the expense of their own lives.

Mr. Kazini you remember how you were captured by the UNRF led by Allhai Tata. Following an investigation, you revealed you were not an Acholi but from western Uganda. That way you were not seen as an enemy and therefore your own life was saved. Then were you handed over to Mr. Muze Yosa who was known to have married Munyankole woman called Barbara.

Mr. Muze Yosa was a well known and respected person who was the assistant of Mr. Francis Itabuka of the State Research Bureau (SRB). Because he did not abuse his powers then, he won the respect many Amin soldiers and officers. Consequently, you found yourself confortable at Mr. Muze Yosa's home in Kimba, Southern Sudan.

Mr. Yosa and his friends risked their lives to get you through the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) all the way from Bazi, Imbgokolo, Ariwara, Aru, Bunia, Beni until you entered western Uganda to join the NRA of Mr. Museveni. Remember how they avoided the Kamanyola (Mobutu's soldiers) to get you through? Did you know how much money they spent on your long journey of hundreds of miles all the way from Kimba (Southern Sudan)? Your journey to the NRA started from Mr. Yosa's home and with his help.

When Mr. Yosa returned from exile, he tried to reach you but you shunned him until he died a crying man. When I talked to him to try and get some help from you when you were the army commander considering what help he gave you, he told me "you wanted his help when you needed it most especially when you found yourself between life and death and now you don't need him."

Mr. Kazini, the late Muze Yosa died cursing you. You will never be a happy man until you meet his relatives. Short of that, you will never be a happy or successful man in your life the way you left him to die forgetting all he did for you.

Dear Radiokatwe,

In your letter to Kazini, one writer seems to know both kazini and Mr/Capt. Muze Yosa of State Research very well.

The information I have about late Capt.Muze/Mzee Yosa is that he ordered the killing of Brig. Yorokamu B Tizihwayo, Western Brigade commander at Nakasero State Research Bureau in April 1979. Imagine a Capt. ordering the death of a Brig! I wonder when the writer says he was a "respected man" when actually the blood of thousands of innocent Ugandans was dripping from his hands.

Could Muze Yosa's dying cursing Kazini be misplaced since he himself inherited curses from the deaths of the Brigadier and others?

May be he could help us shed more light about circumstances leading to the death of the Brigadier and where the remains could be & given a befitting burial.
