Ugandans in the diaspora are not lazy

Reply to Bling bloke Omuyaye:Ugandan women living on benefits abroad

Ugandans in the diaspora are not lazy. We send more money to Uganda than what Uganda earns from its coffee export earnings.

I live in Sweden, and the only reason I do not have a job is because of my African name which is not Swedish. My African name betrays me whenever I seek a job. The Swedish people just like the French only have to read your name and if it does not resemble their names, your application for a job is put aside and never considered.

I have been living in Sweden for almost nineteen years. Because of the language barrier, I was forced to do my education again, i.e. “O” levels and “A” levels. I learnt the Swedish language. I went to a Swedish University. I got a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Economics. I also got a Master of Business Administration degree, but up to now, I have never got a job because of my African name. Do you call that laziness? My qualifications have now become a curse and a hindrance because some would be employers say that I am over qualified for their jobs.

So my new strategy is to lie about my qualifications, by not telling the would be employer that I have those qualifications. But this is difficult because all the information about my qualifications is stored on the national government computer. To be highly educated in Sweden is now a curse and a disadvantage. Those who are less educated like bus drivers, find it easier to get a job and earn good money than those with high qualifications especially in Economics.

I know two people from Eritrea. One has a degree in Bio-chemistry and another one has a degree in building houses, construction. Both are unemployed because of racism. All we want is a job that matches our education, but because of institutionalized racism it is impossible.

Most Ugandan women whom I know in Sweden are working. The only women who do not want to work are from Somalia. They do not even bother with learning the language. They are pregnant every year and the more children they produce the more benefits they get. But this is not the case with Uganda women. Mind you Uganda has the most educated people in Africa after Nigeria. So our women know the virtues of birth control. Ugandan women in the diaspora are not parasites on the state as their counterparts the Somalian women are. Even the Swedish people praise Ugandans for being hard working people.

If people in the diaspora are lazy as you suggest, then we would not be able to earn for Uganda all that foreign exchange which we send home as dollars and pounds, which even exceeds the annual coffee earnings.

We in the diaspora support the Uganda economy more than you who are in Uganda. Most of those mansions you see around Kampala are built by money from the diaspora.

The money they give us as social benefits is so little that it is calculated to just to meet our basic needs like rent and food. Nothing is left over to send home. So the money Ugandans send home is earned through hard work and sweat. So next time you talk about an issue, do so only on things you are well informed about.

I would like to reply to the gentle man who said UG women are lazy(Ugandan women are pushing kids in buggies to go and claim benefits). This man is living in a world of his own or in the past. I'm a Ug lady living in the UK, I've a BSc hon in Psychology and Education and at the moment pursuing my MS programme, do you call that laziness! I have a professional job and a mother of four, all my children are graduate!

Let me tell you young man I am very proud of my achievement. You are really in the dark! I salute the lady from Sweden. If there is nothing to discuss on this forum please just read and shut up! We Ugandan are very worried about the psychopath who is destroying the country and you are worrying about Ug women pushing kids in buggy! Are you a father? open you mind and look at your country now!

A concern Ug lady.

AMOUNT OF MONEY NO MEASURE FOR JUDGEMENT

I was a little provoked by a Ugandan in the Diaspora claiming to contribute more to Uganda's economic growth than we at home. I must say with all deligience, the Ugandans overseas are doing us good. But, let us not shy away from the other side of the story. Because of this money, the government could think it can make us saffocate under its henious maladministration without being accountable.

None the less, this is only true to the extent of the foreign cash betrays our thirst for political accountability. We back here walk under horrific conditions and those of us who painfully give up 30% of our earnings deserve respect. We are engaging the government at every given opportunity to respect human rights with very little support from out there. Instead the outside is forcing Museveni to sell Uganda to greedy, irresponsible multinational robers like Madhvani who is pressing the government to throw away more than 1000 people in Tororo district to build and mine phosphates on 26 sq km of land. To begin pointing fingers at each other would be the most primitive act to engage in at this crucial time. Let us work to better our country!!

Continuing the "fake machete" debate

Dear Igabo Nziza, thank you for replying but my question is; How do you know that the story is fake? Are you saying that you know everything that is done or was done by these two (Museveni and Kagame) and why do you refer us to other people's literature yet the literature in most cases talks about Hutu's killing Tutsi's in 100 days and then the Tutsi dominated RPF led by Paul Kagame and backed by Museveni come in and saves the day.

Well, Mr Igabo, the late EX NRA soldier was working with Kagame and his office was next to Kagame's, so anything is possible and maybe it's your story that's fake and planted.

Thanks

Dear RK,thank you for keeping us updated. Anyway, I still insist that the matchete issue should be investigated because the late Simon Kasumba (Gashumba) had big connections and I don't think that he was making it up at all.

I'd also like to say that Museveni hates competition and that's why many prominent people are killed or are being killed. People like the late Robinah Kiyingi were killed by Museveni to cover his tracks and he's still killing.

Please fellow Ugandans, it's time we stopped this killer. The man has brutally killed us and Uganda will never realise it's full potential in terms of development unless Mr Museveni leaves power. Look at the situation of load shedding, how do you expect development and people to live normally with such power cuts deliberately done by Museveni to keep people in the dark and to minimise their communication and thinking.

I call upon all peace loving Ugandans and true Ugandans(even those in government and in powerful positions because it's never to late to change or have a change of heart)to help us to free ourselves from Museveni's evil grip of our Country. The man has got no love for our country and he'll nver because he is a foreigner and this is a fact. Please contribute to the fight against this murderer in any way you can please. Even sending information to radiokatwe is a contribution and helping the oppostion in any way you can before Museveni realises his dream of a Tutsi-hima Empire(which is almost complete by the way unless the mastermind(s) are shown the way). Let us be determined to chase this man away by any means necessary before Uganda becomes like somalia.

Dear readers, the story of our brothers and sisters in Rwanda is long and complicated. That means we should continue to talk about it with the hope of reaching a common understanding sometime in the next 100 years.

The first step could be just airing grievances, as people feel them, without fearing anything except hope of being corrected by the facts where it is needed.

Someone sent us the website where there is a detailed presentation by a man called Remigius Kintu some years ago to the UN Tribunal on Rwanda in Arusha 2005. Among many other things, he tries to trace the origin of the genocides in this Great lakes Region by following specific Rwandan men from their refugee camps of the 1960's to Obote's General Service Unit (GSU), then Amin's State Research Burueau (SRB) on to FRONASA, UNLA and finally NRA and RPF.

About Paul Kagame and machetes, on page 14, he writes:

" In early 1987, a Bulemezi farmer who had been put in charge of NRA farms was ordered by Fred Rwigyema to buy machetes, axes, hammers, hoes, spades, slashers and knives from Jinja Steel Mills, Ssembule Investments and Uganda Bati Co. LTD with labels reading “Made in Rwanda”. He was also ordered to hand all the purchase to Paul Kagame and Mugisha Muntu. Byemalo and Kalyegyeya took charge of the delivery. "

Not all his views are 100% true, but there he has some useful information. Also you can download the PDF document and read then judge for yourself.

Dear RK, through you permit me to thank Igabo Nziza for a nice article which shed some balanced light on the issue of "Fake machete".

I wish also to point out that readers should give Remigius Kintu any contempt he deserves, for a man of his education to deveive the world that there has a plan of establishig a Hima/Tusti empire through some clique of people. He without shame names the High command of the NRA and in it include a man like Peter Kerimu. Which Ugandan can be deceived to the level of believing that Kerimu is a Tutsi?? This just but to show you how tainted the likes of Mulindwa and Remigius are. Only bent to destroying the harmony these regimes of Kampala and Kigali are trying to effect. With your misinformation how shall African Union be achieved? We need men like Kaguta Musevni and Kagame to work towards African confraternity.

Ugandans stay alert lest these guys lead us into trouble of unneccesary division.

NKUNZINTWARI Boniface,

Beni.

Dear sir, thank you for your comment. Remigius' document has innacuracies and wrong statements, but not the one you pointed out. On page 12, Peter Kerimu is listed as a Senior NRA officer, not as a Tutsi.

Nothing and no person can stop Yoweri and PK from working together if they want to.

Is Uganda now exporting 'power men' or what?

Hello everyone,I came across this website
http://www.modernghana.com about Emma Katto, it's worth reading.

Thank you for this tip. It is a recent story from Ghana saying our 'son of the soil' and junk helicopter supplier Emma Katto is now 'talking big' in West Africa. He is listed as a 'Business Executive' of a power company registered in the Isle of Man, which is a small autonomous island between Ireland and England with very liberal corporate laws designed to attract offshore banking. People setting up paper companies receive a warm welcome there.

It seems after living on the edge of poverty in the UK for sometime, our 'black sheep son' Katto struck a gold mine in Ghana and Nigeria, signing a contract to supply power.

The website of Katto's company is www.transdanubiapower.com
It looks like a homepage which you can make it in an hour from templates. Many of the links don't work, the pictures on there are all fake/borrowed. Yet we hear the Ghana government has given him $80 million so far since last year, and he is planning to increase the price of his power.

Ugandans, let's keep Mabira on the front burner

Dear Editor,
The Mabira forest give away is not over yet. The sabagabe seems not to have heard the people's position on this saga.

Pse RK we need you to investigate this issue. Pse bring up the subject we need to hear what the people are saying. Other wise for us we have started our work which ever MP supports this madness will be recorded down and they will have to pay up to the third generation. Pse bring up this issue for discussion.

This country belongs to us

I would like to thank the editor of radio katwe and all readers giving out what they know about this regime.

Giving my comment on the semuto letter to the president; people thanx for reminding this man but what I would like to tell people of semuto, kangave, kagembe, masulita, kirolo, kapeeka, mijinje, nakaseke, mawale, kanyanda and all parts of so called Luwero Triangle that you are voting for this man every elections but you have to look for the right place where your children will live and where you will be burried because every single day this man changes his buganda plan to the worst.

He appointed so called hajji Sedunga who is not even a hajji as a chairman of Luwero war veterans and now on comitee to take our precious land. Let me tell you sedunga, kinobe, sekabanja and very many baganda there that this country belongs to we people. Do what is right. You have children but you are giving away our land which our ancestors fought for and died poor without selling it. Trust me you and your families will never leave after taking our land.

And now this guy has started burning schools in buganda the group with kaihura as its leader the same time as the main investgator. We watching everything and we praying the almighty allah to help us and conqer these thives, robbers, killers, dictators and their suporters.

For God and my country - not my stomach or family as these hooligans.
