Last month Radio Katwe reported that the boss of the New Vision company Robert Kabushenga was hard at work trying to convince the Daily Monitor paper to drop a story.

Kabushenga wanted Monitor to stop writing about the scandal where Museveni's son in law Odrek Rwabwogo swindled money in a deal with Makerere University Business School. The deal was one for supplying some computer systems.

We knew that Kabushenga was on a mission to do his master Museveni's bidding, specifically to try and defend them when they look bad in public.

But further close observation has now revealed that Kabushenga had more than his boss's "honor" to defend. It has emerged that Kabushenga's wife called Cindy was part and parcel of that scam. So the NV boss had an immediate and personal interest in making sure that story does not come to the public.

And by all counts, he was successful. Radio Katwe has gathered that the Monitor paper was all set to go with a follow up of the Rwabwogo story but all of a sudden it died an unnatural death. Apparently, the MD of Monitor Mr Tom Mshindi "saw the light" and agreed to henceforth shut his eyes.

So round 1 goes to Kabushenga. We are watching to see if the team in the Red corner will attempt a "suicide" comeback or swallow quietly hoping to live and see another day.
