Rwandese opposition group condemns arrest of top official in Germany
Last updated : 17 Jul 2008, Kampala

Editor's note: The FDLR is the main group opposed to the regime of President Paul Kagame. Radio Katwe would like its readers to read their press release. We are not saying you must believe or like it.

You know in Africa we have this 'culture' of using fists and pangas to make our point before trying other means. But we feel that it is important that the Hutu political class of Rwanda is given a chance to give their side of the story. The international media has branded them all as genocidaires, mad, unthinking brutes and devils bent on destruction and Radio Katwe would like their story to also be told.

Declaration of the Democratic Liberation Forces of Rwanda about the unjust arrest of Executive Secretary Mr Callixte Mbarushimana

The Democratic Liberation Forces of Rwanda (FDLR) robustly uphold their absolute support and unwavering confidence in their Executive Secretary, Mr Callixte Mbarushimana, who was unjustly arrested in Germany at Frankfort on July7, 2008.

The FDLR emphasize the iterative nature of the judicial harassment to which their Executive Secretary has been subjected to at the instigation of the Kagame's regime whenever the grip of international justice tightens around the necks of the true architects of Rwandan genocide which are mainly present in the various bodies of the government in Kigali and in the gravediggers of the peoples of the Great Lakes Region Africa's.

In fact, in 2001 Mr Mbarushimana Callixte started experiencing the ill-motivated machinery of ostracism campaigns which were and are tailored against all Intellectual Hutus. The Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi) has spiritedly engaged in such campaigns since 1990 when they invaded Rwanda, killed innocent people and enthroned tyranny.

Following these baseless and unfounded allegations, Mr. Callixte Mr Mbarushimana was unlawfully arrested and dragged into jail while he was working as the Head of Information Technology for the United Nations in Kosovo. The outcome of this tragic saga was an acquittal for lack of evidence and unfounded testimony. The then employer of Mr Callixte Mbarushimana whose attitude throughout the case was most ambiguous, was ordered by an UN-court to regularise Mr Callixte Mbarushimana for lack of "fairness".

After the judges from Kosovo had concluded that those accusations are baseless and unfounded, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) which was supposed to take over the case of Mr Callixte Mbarushimana made a strong non-place on this issue despite the hysterical insistence of Kigali.

After the democratic election of Mr Callixte Mbarushimana for the post of Executive Secretary of FDLR the media armada of the RPF-Inkotanyi has unsuccessfully used all available means to blackmail him.

Thus, some individuals in Reims in France who have been instrumentalized by their Rwandan wives formed a civil party for Rwanda and using their moles in the media agencies and with tremendous support from the Rwandan regime they are hunting Mr Mbarushimana's head at any cost. The puzzle is that that all these individuals do not know the man whom they have vowed loss.

The FDLR want to let the public and the media across the world know that the arrest of their Executive Secretary following the warrant of arrest issued against him by the authority of Kigali is unjust and nothing else but the continuing attempts to intimidate the leadership of FDLR. Such intimidation will not affect the determination of the Abacunguzi to liberate their people from the yoke of a group of criminals whose primary responsibility in the Rwandan genocide is now well known.

The FDLR remain convinced that sooner or later the real perpetrators of the Rwandan tragedy will be identified by independent and renowned investigators and will be ultimately accountable for their heinous acts before an impartial and independent court.

The FDLR reiterate their appeal to the African leadership at various meetings, so that their position on the 7 million Rwandans and Congolese massacred by Kagame and his acolytes be clear and that an endogenous response reconciles forever Africa to itself.

The FDLR calls upon countries of the international community not to continue to condone and to let themselves be manipulated by the arrest warrants issued by the a regime that conceived, organized, and executed the genocide to both Hutus and Tutsis and to the citizens of Congo.

The FDLR rather call these countries to cooperate actively with the judges Bruguire and Merelles so that justice be done to the peoples of the Great Lakes region of Africa. It is the support of this commendable initiative of these judges which will end the fratricide wars in the region whose ancient vocation is the concord and the harmony between peoples.
