Last updated : 21 June 2008, Kampala

Our deepest condolences to the family, the country, the Buganda and the FDC party on the passing Dr. Suleiman Kiggundu. You know God creates people for the purpose. And you have if you finish with your mission, you have your time to go. There is a time for birth. So we can take that as a time for Dr. Suleiman Kiggundu has come.

He is gone but his vision lives on. We should not give up. "ALUTA CONTINUA". May we honor his life by implementing the changes that he struggled for during his time on earth. Inn Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajoun (May his soul rest in eternal peace).

Another prominent politician Ugandan dying in South Africa! It is very sad news for all those who knew Sulaiman Kigundu and to FDC to hear of his death. My prayers goes to his family.

I can't remember the dates but It was the day of the world cup final in the early nineties and I escorted friends who were going to see former Vice President Samson Kiseka. On arrival one of my friends apologised to him for being late as we had been at a Ugandan funeral. To my shock Samson Kiseka asked us laughing as usual, Nalongo at his side, ye baja kukola ki wano nga bawedeyo? (why do they come here when they are finished/dying?). I felt so angry to hear him asking such question, it was unfortunate that he also came for treatment in U.K the same way, when it was too late and he also died in U.K.

HOW MANY MORE SHOULD GO THROUGH THIS? UGANDANS WAKE UP!

It is the Ugandans duty to demand better medical treatment and not rely on foreign hospitals. Alot of tax man's money is intentionaly being spent in personal gain, buying guns instead of looking after and building Uganda's hospitals to save Ugandans lives. It is hard enough to rush to Mulago Hospital, but flying to any kind of foreign hospital don't give one a chance of surviving. By the time one books a ticket fly to the destination very important time to save ones life is lost on the way.

Please Ugandans it is important we demand and demand our rights to proper and decent medical treatment. Even flying the first family soon will not be as easy. The flight to Germany may cost Museveni's very important person's life because it doesn't take twenty minutes to fly to Germany by any kind of plane however expensive it may be. When Obote was shot where was he treated from? Mulago! Iddi Amin was a regular at Mulago hospital, so was his family, Uganda today with a Museveni who doesn't trust any doctor in Uganda because he used them while he was fighting his revolutionary war, now he has finished with them and he doesn't want to know.

TO ALL GUANDANS SORRY 4 THE DEATH OF DR SULAIMAN KIGGUNDU HE WAS A GOOD MAN 4 REAL. BUT YOU SEE WE CAN'T DENY DEATH, WE CAN'T REAR IT, I'M SURE GOD HAS A BETTER PLACE 4 HIM

BY AKM 4 REAL IN STOCKHOLM.

Dear Editor,

Tha passing a way of our son, elder and Statesman in the person of Suleiman Kigundu in a foreign hospital is indeed another thorn in the flesh of Ugandans. It show how our resources can not be marshalled for the common good. Well his earthly journey is over and may the Creator gant him a peaceful rest in his heavenly abode.

But how many Ugandans can afford flying to foreign countries for treatment yet the government always sings the song of modernization, professionalization, vision, focus etc... this is kidding!! Then comes these writers on radio Katwe like Vincent who claim to be a captain in the PGB. Stop being theoreticians. Come up for the bahima boys cannot outnumber you and you are more Combat-hardened than the Nyakairima's who cannot walk even 20 kms a day. Don't fear the keinerugaba's training in Kansas. There they feed on smeared bread and lots of oils. harden on you muhogo and mahindi and be more practical to show the 7's that the 8's and 9's also exist!!

In all be tactiful and avoid casualities on your side. Avoid alcohol and sex for these will derail the mission. respect the common man and don't steal his goats and chicken, then all the blessings for giving back an honour to Uganda's population and her Women members of parliament who may never expose their nudeness to the maniac police officers who can even do the "thing in packed vans. Shame on them but we must rescue the situation.

Aluta Continua and may he RIP, again.

RK Readers and All True Patriotic Ugandans,

I am shocked. Dr. Sulaiman Kiggundu has breathed his last. Kiggundu's death is not an event. It is has been a process. Sulaiman Kiggundu was an indigenous Ugandan entrepreneur and former Governor of the Bank of Uganda. He built, not a national, but a regional bank that had branches as far a field as Dar es Salaam. In Kigundu's bank teachers, peasants, cleaners, hawkers, tomato sellers etc. found the very first opportunity to rub shoulders with the moneyed at the same counters.

Then one day, one day I will never forget, Greenland Bank was no more. A self confessed "Financial Engineer" in the names of Salim Saleh with his brother, Yoweri Tibuhaburwa- Buzariranwa Museveni, sought to steal UCB using Greenland Bank. They brought Kiwani investors from Malysia and forced them into the vaults of both Greenland and UCB. The rest is history. Dr. Sulaiman Kiggundu's idea was dead. Only the Bwengye's got paid to stop the demonstration that was bound to rock the nation. Kiggundu's personality, personal pride and dreams for the Ugandans, and indeed the poor, and emerging of East Africa were shattered and robbed by the people that are triumphant beneficiaries of the robbery, that later became Stanbic Bank Uganda Ltd. Janet Museveni do you know that having your relative appointed a Corporation Secretary of a Bank that was a remnant of the sweat of Ugandans is a crime in God's Court?

To rub in the pain Dr. Sulaiman Kiggundu was whisked-off to Luzira to serve his sentence for "being robbed of his Bank". For us who knew Dr. Sulaiman Kiggundu as a person, we know he never recovered from the day Greenland Bank was robbed from right under his feet by the monsters that will stop at nothing and have no shame. Even in joining the founding of FDC Kiggundu was looking for a foothold to recover the glory that Greenland Bank was. For us who believed in you and trusted you with our sweat and tears your pain was our pain.

Adieu Dr. Kiggundu, you may die. But we shall not forget. They may dangle their "bonna bagagawale" robbery schemes similar to the robbery of orphans' savings in UWESO, but we shall only rest when we have brought this shameful, and painfully long chapter in our history to an end. At that stage Kiggundu you, your vision and the Ugandan's who stood-up with you will be resurrected.

Adieu my friend, rest and remember the foundation you laid was not done in vain. They will go and we shall build Uganda.

Rutanama na Bigomba

The death of Dr. Sulaiman Kiggundu is a Big Loss.

Dear readers fellow Ugandans,

You remember how Dr. Kiggundu stood with this munyarwanda-Museveni in the bush. Dr.kiggundu started climbing ladders of success to the time he started a very great bank Greenland which was helping many people especially the Baganda.

Due to Museveni's desire to eliminate the Baganda and eradicate all their success stories, through Salim Saleh aka Akandwanaho they acquired shares in that bank for the purpose of pulling out so that the bank could collapse. Those of you who remember this is what happened.

Now another issue which should make the Baganda to wake up and fight this Rwandese Museveni is the LAND issue. You have notised that Museveni and Tinyefunza wrongly acquired big chunks of Kabaka's milo land in places like Kyenda in Mityana and other places. Museveni and his family with a few Bahima and Rwandese have come up with a plan to eliminate all of the Baganda who are doing well and weaken the Buganda Kingdom and other kingdoms like Busoga.

You remember the so many secret meetings Museveni and his wife have been having with Kyabazinga (Busoga King) even though the King is too sick and weak even to do anything. This was because Museveni and his fellow thugs wanted to get rid of Prof. Balunywa thru bribing the Kyabazinga family. You remember that its Balunywa who was opposing the so called land reforms which would destroy Busoga just like Buganda. All of you know the truth of what has happened by firing Prof. Balunywa by the so-called Busoga clique that was bribed by Museveni.

These are some of the issues why Dr. Kiggundu has always stood against the policies of this Rwandese refugee Museveni. He took away his bank under the disguise of the Bank Of Uganda only because it was lending money to traditional chiefs especially the Baganda. Fellow Ugandans see the divisions Museveni and a few Bahima are bringing in Uganda. See how he is using Bunyoro to attack the Baganda to the extent of the Bunyoro demanding the lost seven counties of the past.

Fellow Ugandans, are you watching? Are we ready for what happened in Kenya? Are you ready to allow those long-nosed bribed members of the parliament to take and give away your land to Museveni and fellow Rwandese. Dont you know that Paul Kagame of Rwanda owns a big chunk of land in Buwekula and Singo?

Wake up Ugandans and prepare your children for war especially the war against our land. When the call for war sounds dont forget our assets that those few Bahima and Rwandese are stealing under the disguise of privatisation and foreign Investors. Let me tell you that those so-called "foreign investors" are actually Museveni and Janet's family. Remember Janet and her sons-in-law as well as her daughters own most of those so-called sold plots of land in Kampala.

She calls herself a born-again christian while importing un-taxed cigarettes through Mutukula boarder post. Some of you who have worked in Uganda Revenue know this.

Come on and stand firm so that we can take forward the fight and the legacy of Dr. Sulaiman Kiggundu. Many of us may die just like Dr. Andrew Lutakome Kayiira was murdered by Museveni and Rwigyema. Nevertheless lets be united and prepare for war. Your "gold" and all your resources are being hidden in Rwakitula.

FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY MOTHER UGANDA.
Sam Muwa-UPDF, Uganda.

To all Ugandans.
I feel very bad to have learnt the death of Sulaiman Kiggundu. It hurts me, and I symphatise with the family, relatives, inlaws and FDC in particular. But Kiggundu is not dead, his aspirations will live longer than those in corridors of powers.

They stole his bank, may be hatched his death from Luzira prisons, and one time refused him to get treatment from abroad. But the Bible says omuntu ozarwa omukazi amara ebiro bikye omunsi, ahundura nkekirabyo. His tormentors, torturers one day all these thieves will die like Mobutu, Milesovick and may be Taylor

Dear RK,

Dying is part of living, but the death of Dr. Sulaiman Kiggundu was not ordinary dying: he was mudered psychologically. I am no medical doctor, but the truth is, Dr. Kiggundu would have survived the cancer for an extended period, if M7 and his mafia goons had not stripped him off everything he built from scratch. Kiggundu's loss is unbearable to an ordinary soul, others would have committed suicide.

God forbid I am afraid, anyone who read tea leaves will have realized that the next person is Dr. Kiiza Besigye. Dr. Besigye is stressed to death. Sometime back he even commented that he died long time ago. Even after losing his dear brother Musasizi, what keeps Besigye alive is his metalic will; otherwise he would died long ago.

Sometimes I think he should just let go of politics so that he may find peace of mind. Let Museveni and family rule until they drop dead. "What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?". Now that Dr. Kiggundu is gone while he was away in the US, he must be a broken hearted person.

The officials of Bank of Uganda are dancing on Dr. Kiggundu's grave. They are the very people who broke his heart after closing and sold off his sweat and blood - Greenland Bank. How cruel can some human beings become? Now that he is dead, they are very people now falling over each other to meet the cost of funeral. It is sickening and incomprehensible.

If Greenland Bank had financial hiccup, why didn't Bank of Uganda bail it out? It bailed out less significant Basajjabalaba's Hides and Skin busness with Shs.20bn. At the stroke a pen from the mafia boss, they threw billions of shillings at an unknown Kananathan of Tri Star. To add insults to injuries, there is no hope of recovering all these monies.

Dr. Kiggundu, you can now rest in peace. You left us behind to lament your pain and suffering. You created sustainable jobs for thousands in the region at ago, but the devil can't accept that popularity. After losing everything, you thought through politics you could reverse things in a humane manner to change the lives of Ugandans by prividing alternative leadership, but the devil can have non of it.

May your soul rest in eternal peace while the devil dances around your grave. I will not be surprised if M7 shows up at your grave side to prove that you are actually dead and burried. Seeing is believing: M7 went to parliament to check whether Obote was dead and he proved it for himself. The witch like a volture is patiently waiting for Dr. KB death.

God help Uganda. For God and my country

Sir - I wish to send my condolences to the family of the late Dr. Suleyman Kiggundu following his death which occurred when the contry still needed his wise counsel in the spheres of business, finance and politics.

However it seems to me that most Africans remain trapped in the throes of superstition when it comes to matters to do with death. And this includes those who are supposed to be highly educated!!! They still believe that no death occurs without a human hand! Yet death is a natural reality which we must all prepare for. This explains why most of the writers to Radio Katwe on the Dr. Kiggundu's death are laying blame some where else! This notwithstanding the fact that Dr. Kiggundu's health problems with cancer were a public secret - the media having reported about it several months ago.

The same Africans are also very eager to lay blame on the collapse of Dr. Kiggundu's business empire on the government forgetting that the late's own management style of Greenland Bank may have played a significant role in the bank's collapse.

I was a customer of Greeenland Bank with an account with the branch in Dar es salaam Tz in the late 1990s. It was a good bank while it lasted. Overtime however, one of the senior staff who was a friend warned me of seriuos problems the bank was facing with liquidity. He blamed it all on the manangement style of the Chairman (Dr. Kiggundu) whom he said was running the bank in an unprofessional manner. He said that the Chairman was lending huge sums of customers money without the requisite collateral to friends and other associates. All it took was a mere chit from the Chairman. He also said that the bank was also plagued by heavy insider lending involving bank staff again under the approval of the Chairman. He said that all this was unsustainable and it could lead to the bank's closure anytime.

He advised me to close my account which I did and within the week the bank was closed saving my $4,000/=!! The question that arises for all therefore is: did Greenland bank close down becuase of malice from the government or was it a result of mismanagement?

'Dr. Kiggundu May Your Soul Rest in Peace!'

I knew Dr. Kigundu in the 'dark' days of Uganda's economic and political moments. As a young journalist at UTV, I bumped into him with unscheduled questions ranging from local to international issues. He was such a brain!

May his vision thrive at thie crucial moment of struggle for justice and freedom to all.

Blessings to his family and well wishers.
