A regular reader asks:

"I have on numerous occasions requested you to appeal to Ugandans to unravel the mystery behind the killings (using "iron bars" on people's skulls) that went on in Jinja during Obote II. It is interesting to note that soon after M7 came to power these barbarous acts effectively stopped. Was M7 and the NRA behind this terror? Please RK, this matter requires serious investigation."

Radio Katwe Manager replies: Yes sir, we got your requests and have been trying to send out feelers on the killings. So far we do not have firm proof, though the tactics are familiar to the NRA.

Around Mukono late in 1985 during the peace talks between Museveni and Tito Okello, there were also similar attacks on people and businessmen. During times of political problems, there is a general rise in public disorder and violence, but we should also know that some of it is engineered. When you hear people calling Museveni "a devil", it is not for nothing. If Ugandans who run away wrote books then you would know. So we work on the assumption that it was Museveni's work. What we lack now is hard reports and specific cases. If you know of any feel free to write in and let us know.

I am a native of Kawempe. Could you also put light on death of a former senior UFM man Ssebyala who was murdered in cold blood at Kawempe besides the market. His mother Nakalazi is still alive living in Kawempe. The man was shot several bullets in daylight by the NRA soldiers.
