The life of the young Turk of Museveni, Brig. Noble Mayombo remains in suspense as he enters another day in a comatose state.
Mayombo was poisoned on Thursday on the orders of the boss he has tried to serve with a loyal heart, Museveni. He spent this Labour day in labour fighting for his life. He is still being sustained by a drip and breathing though an oxygen mask, according to our informers stationed in Nairobi.
When the delegation reached Nairobi on Sunday night they thought they would rest and proceed after to Tel Aviv. But the condition of Mayombo was still so bad that the Israel trip was cancelled. Phillip Rwabwoni Winyi, Mayombo's elder brother is by his bedside. His younger brother Major Okwir Rwabwoni stayed in Kampala.
It is worrying but we have also received reports that Mayombo's fellow army officers convened an emergency meeting in Kampala to make arrangements for his funeral and burial.
They are discussing the protocol of military honours, choosing the pall bearers who will carry the coffin in and out of All Saints Cathedral Nakasero, the commander of the honour guard which will fire the salute over the grave and other ceremonial details like that.
Maybe they are following normal army procedures for this type of situation just incase the patient does not pull through, but it is still a worrying sign.
Another report from Fort Portal where Mayombo hails from says that people there are worried and crestfallen about their son of the soil. They cannot accept the theory they are hearing that the poisoning of Mayombo was an inside job from the highest office in the land.
But for people who know Museveni closely, this would not be something so hard to believe because it has happened before. This is what we have been telling people all along who thought we hate Museveni because of petty reasons. The man is "a killer" as Obote described him. Obote said that other tyrants usually kill their enemies or people they think are enemies.
Museveni is different in that he kills his enemies but also those who are close to him. He has been implicated in the disappearance now presumed murder of close people like his wife Hope the mother of Muhoozi, his own close friends and comrades during the struggle against Amin like Black Mwesigwa, Martin Mwesiga, and Hope's brother Valeriano Rwaheru. These people were dispatched without any mercy so the likes of Mayombo would not be anything new.
We have been telling you that the poison used on Mayombo is from the same former East Soviet Bloc countries where the poison which was used to eliminate the late Brig. Kamwesiga also came from. For Kamwesiga, he just had a "heart attack" and that was the end.
The late Colonel Sula Semakula who was involved in the Congo invasion and looting was also killed by poison because he had too much evidence of Salim Saleh's looting in Congo and could not be relied on to keep quiet.
You remember the deputy minister of Finance Abbey Kafumbe Mukasa. It is said that in his case they used a slow killing poison from Cuba.
We know these things.
A Radio Katwe source has just written to remind us of the murder of the Attorney General Francis Ayume.
The source who says he was an eye witness that day of Ayume's death says
"Ayume was forced to come back to Kampala late at night because someone who called him on phone and we heard him saying 'yes sir'. He then told us they needed him for work early morning in Kampala so he couldn't sleep over.
He was attacked and killed, his car with several bullets was never seen (inspected? Ed.), his bodyguard and another driver rushed to the scene before Museveni ordered the scene of the 'crash' to be cleared. They saw several bullets on the car and the tyre, the car was in bad shape.
When his bodyguard reported what he saw to the police boss, they told him never to say anything. The doctor taken to examine the body refused to examine he said the body was destroyed."
Though this eye witness story is not complete and missing some things, the fact remains that the circumstances surrounding Ayumes death remain unknown, because Musevenis government has sat on the reports, or refused to make an investigation.
We shall give you more info on Mayombo when we get it.
Meanwhile if anybody has any information of the Thursday when he became sick, please send it to us through our usual secure and anonymous channel. We are piecing together Mayombo's movements that day. Who he met that morning, who he ate lunch with or had a drink with. We believe it will throw more light on this case.
We want to know if Mayombo got any strange phone calls or met people from State House, or anything that was out of his normal schedule.
