Fire breaks out at Capt Mike Mukula's radio station
Last updated : 12 Jul 2008, Kampala

A fire suspected to have been set by arsonists broke out on Saturday morning at a radio station in Jinja owned by the Soroti politician Capt. Mike Mukula.

The station is called Victoria FM and it mainly broadcasts towards eastern Uganda. It has become popular with the locals in the region.

Details are so far still sketchy but Mukula has in recent weeks become a vocal critic of the NRM party and party chairman, President Yoweri Museveni.

There is still no information to suggest the likely cause or motive of the fire, but last week we speculated that starting with the school fires, then Red Pepper, critics of Museveni like the Monitor, Radio Buganda, and the UPC headquarters at Uganda House might experience attacks of some kind. We wait to see how this one will turn out.
