Museveni misses budget speech, in US for Muhoozi's graduation
Last updated : 14 June 2008, Kampala

The government budget day ceremony on Thursday June 12 was not graced by our "Revolutionary" President Museveni because he is away in the USA to attend the graduation ceremony of his son Major Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

About two years ago, Muhoozi was sent to the renowned Fort Leavenworth military academy in Kansas, USA. This was shortly after he'd had a heated confrontation with his father at State House in which a shot or shots were fired.

It is believed Muhoozi what sent Muhoozi over the top was he got to know that Museveni had put the title of Kisozi Ranch in the names of Amber Kyambadde. Amber is the daughter who Museveni has with his Principle Private Secretary (PPS) Amelia Kyambadde.

After the angry exchange in which Museveni fired a pistol to shut his son up, Muhoozi was briefly put under house arrest in the army barracks at Katabi in Entebbe town.

The way things are in Uganda now, seeing the special attention Muhoozi is receiving suggests when he returns to Uganda, he will be given more powers to reorganise the PGB and put in very powerful security positions. As we have reported before, the PGB/D is set to become an all pervasive enforcer and we are likely to see more violent crackdowns against Ugandans.

Museveni also attended Muhoozi's graduation ceremony from Royal Military Academy at Sandhurt in 2001.

Muhoozi joined the UPDF in 1998 without meeting the legal requirements of the law to become a UPDF cadet officer.

Shortly thereafter, he facilitated the recruitement of some youths, sometimes described as "his friends" into the UPDF as cadets. His father dismissed the ensuing controversy, saying the young men (including his son) acted as members of the Local Defence Force (LDF) where the rules and requirements of the formal UPDF structures do not apply.

But after the dust had settled, Muhoozi who had meantime attended Sandhurt (in his capacity as an LDF?) again set tongues wagging. This time Libyan president Col Muammar Gaddaffi was in town and whenever he visits Uganda, Gaddafi takes on the powers of a monarch. He issues binding edicts such as who should rule Uganda and for how long, distributes gifts, rewards faithful subjects with money and generally becomes the big man around. His guards assert their right to take control of whatever location he is at.

This time "King" Gaddafi saw it fit to promote the son of his regent from the rank of Lieutenant to Major, jumping up two ranks. The UPDF seems to have been caught off guard and they scrambled to cook up a story to explain the "King's" actions, telling bemused Ugandans that the new rank was a "loan" which Muhoozi was now going to have to earn.

While speaking in Luganda at the launch of an association of soldiers' widows and orphans at Sheraton Hotel shortly after Muhoozie had left for the US, Museveni explained that he had named his son Muhoozi (roughly, "avenger" in English) and that he was the one going to carry on his fathers work.
Quote : "Omwana yagenda okutwala mu maso omulimo gwa kitawe. Mutabani wange namuyita Muhoozi. Enkya, Muhoozi yagenda okuwolera eggwanga," (Source: Monitor)

(The reader might find it helpful to note that Gaddafi has invited Ugandan Revolutionary Committee Movement (RCM) members to Libya. They are a group which has always campaigned for Museveni's stay in power since the first elections in 1996.

RCM groups originated in Libya and their activities inlude being "instruments of popular revolution". They are funded by the Gaddafi regime and exist in several countries where Libya has an influence, including Sudan.

In Libya, RCM is the most powerful feared armed cum political group similar to Uganda's NRM. They have unlimited power and have committed atrocities against civilians in the past.

The Uganda chapter was formed during the run up to the 1996 elections. Maj. Muhoozi is a founding member.

You can read more about RCM on the Libyan run website http://www.mathaba.net - Ed )

Dear Fellow Ugandans,

By now you are fully aware of the type of President you have, a typical conman.

He leaves important state functions and duties and travels in our plane which he thinks it is his to go and attend his "fool's" graduation ceremony as the Late Mayombo (RIP) would have termed it.

The conman has no respect for institutions and fellow Presidents in the East African region preferring to instead go to see his son who did not even go to the States on merit.

If Ugandans still have any doubts about this thug, well, you have all the evidence.

However, we have seen it with Dictators like Saddam and his 3 sons. The sons went to hell before him and he just followed.

Lt. Fox Matsiko (PGB)
