Radio Katwe has from time to time been running reports on how President Paul Kagame of Rwanda together with his former boss President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda played a role in the 1994 genocide. We appeal to historians to take a note and research for future generations when you write books.
Today we bring for special mention this letter which is already published under readers comments of another story of Tuesday June 24th. The writer makes a mistake which is common to us Africans by putting the crimes of the few on the heads of all (Tutsi in this case). It becomes difficult for us to solve our problems if we cannot accurately identify and articulate them. Much as these people identify with, act or claim to be acting as a certain group, we should not lose sight of the fact that the most important issue is their crimes.
The writer also does not mention time frames like what year and the possible location of this office, though we can guess former Republic House. Nevertheless, his account is worth reading and keeping it in mind :-
Hello everyone, I'd like to say something about Kagame and Museveni and this I was told by the late Capt. Simon Kasumba (RIP) who worked under the NRA Directorate of Military Intelligence.
He told me that he was a personal friend of Kagame because Kagame thought he was a Tutsi. He went on telling me that his mother was a Tutsi from Rwanda and his father was a Hutu and he actually told me that his real name was Gashumba (you can investigate more on this but this, he personally told me).
Capt. Kasumba (Gashumba) was telling me how he fell out with Museveni and told me that one of the reasons he fell out was because one day he came he to his office (which was next to Paul Kagame's) and found the door to his office sealed.
He tried to open it but it was sealed and I must admit that personally told me that he found a way of opening it later but what he found inside was a big shock to him. He told me that once inside, he found stacks and boxes of new matchetes in his office.
Yes, thousands of brand new matchetes concealed in his office next to Kagame's office. I guess this was one of the reasons he had to die (he had seen what he wasn't supposed to see)
Fellow Ugandans, Kagame and Museveni are Tutsis and you can imagine that many people still believe that Tutsi were brutally killed yet it seems and it's clear that Museveni and Kagame are the true genocidaires, they are the ones who carried out the genocide and they are the masterminds of this unforgetable event even.
Believe it or not but such brutality and killings was not common as it is now in Uganda until a Tutsi (Museveni) and his bandits entered politics in Uganda. Museveni is killing innocent Ugandans everyday and will continue to do so, these people are natural killers and yes that's the truth.

Dear Editor
Thank you for informing the world about your good work on East Africa. I have been reading your articles some of them contain real matter but others are fake like the one on machetes. I have no friendship with the two leaders although I have met them on different forums in my youth days.
We all know that Kagame and Museveni are friends and one groomed the other in search for freedom that allowed many of us to return home. I have lived in Rwanda soon after the genocide and seen the trend of change that is taking place which is impressive to eyes of many. Much as it's claimed to be one sided government, which is true? Its 9 million people are living together in peace and harmony. For example the crime rate is low which is a good indicator of peace and security.
In addition we all know that there are many challenges in establishing a sound post conflict administration especially after volatile environment like Rwanda or Bosnia. The element of bringing back the trust among the people is always difficult but one could champion it by acknowledging what Kagames government has been able to achieve in the last fews years. Nevertheless, much as it earns credit, the government of kagame has faced with many weakness as shall be discussed later.
As Rwandan living in Diaspora, we should refrain from presenting distorted information which may be dangerous to our future generation. Much as I agree with the editor views and use freedom of expression to exercise his or her rights, the machete stories is faked one. Please always refer to other people's literature if you want to understand "Tutsi genocide". However, there are issues that may be real and attract your attention like the roles of RPF in the genocide which has remained silent and unquestioned. There are several writers or scholars or human rights bodies that have presented or published what transpired during the 1990s conflict. If you could relate your writing on their reference that would be good publication. Similarly the post conflict Rwanda has got more literature than any other conflict in the region hence a need to always educate the masses on the truth may earn RK more mileage.
However, I also have much to say about Kagame's and Musevenis governments, the two leaders are in "Himasification" and "Tutsification" of the region by setting a wrong precedence. Like the administration is Rwanda is one sided, no one opposes it and the political atmosphere is in limbo as it only RPF talking the other parties have been made silent or given them good posts and live in luxurious life style. Similarly, the good jobs that are juicy are occupied by Hima in Uganda. The element of discrimination is secretly done and hunting both sides as one is looking for justice as tool for suppression and governance. But there are other indicators being ignored that would help the countries to prosper, the judicial independence , transparency and accountability of the tax payers money, failure the genocide ideology , infrastructure, respect of human rights , media freedom , freedom of expression and assembly, provision of good health system and fighting poverty.
