RK., To begin with I wonder whether this Miria Obote is a true representaive of the the party she claims to head.

Before appealing to the International Criminal Court to judge the likes of Nkunda, Miria should first ask with all honesty that the ICC judges the UPC members of the heinious crimes they committed to Ugandans and Rwandese when UPC was in power especially in thier second helping of the 1980's. What they did to the people of Luwero is every ones knowledge. What they did to the Rwandans in Ankole in 1982 through the likes of Rwakasisi and his UPC Youth wingers is common knowledge, to mention but a few.

Alleging the proxy war staged by Nkunda in DRC is just a wishful thinking. Even a child born yesterday knows what hell the ex-FAR and Interahamwe now enveloped in DRC did to their kins in Rwanda before, during and after 1994 wen they started to inflitrate the Ruhengeri areas to accomplish their unfinished mission of extermination of the Tutsis from the face of the earth.

Neglect of the Tutsi's by the same International Community (Ex- President Bill Clinton, Romeo Dallaire and many others ) testified to this. This negative propaganda accompanied the killers to DRC and there, they found the Banyamurenge whom they startd to kill and what would Nkunda as a soldier and liberator had to do? In defence of his people, and Universal Justice he had to act because others were not interested. He actually needs support even from you Miria, if you can use your sense of humanity. The call from you should instead be for a viable solution to the Interahamwe question and then Nkunda will start to embark on National duties together with other Congolese. Before that question is solved, wapi kabisa.

Miria I think at any fora you should apologise to what your party did while in power and posit a more useful program to co-work with NRM in the Reconciliation and Development agenda.

Your narrative seem to imply first hand information on how Nkunda's guys are armed and trained by foreign powers. But we him to have ample space and capacity to train, and then ofter his ready boys use those tactics to get arms from the Congolese downtrodden army, from the May may and other renegade forces who lack stamina and purpose to fight.

can you give me space to explain to tPAX, that my point on Nkunda is loud and clear: The interahamwe question must be solved once and for all, then Nkunda will be at peace and with no other reason to stage a rebellion in the DRC, a country in which he has all civic rights to live and develop. As fo the killings, I am not condoning kullings at all. if any thing, i opt for a peaceful solution to the poblem, and thanks to the efforts by Mr. Obasanjo.

We should recall that in any war, killings happen as there is exchange of fire and many people even non combatants die in the process. Very unfortunate. But when PAX comes up to say that the culture of indiscrimate killing has spread to DRC, they forget the cause. These are interahamwe's who disappeared into Congo with their brutal methods of massive killings. When they say that the same methods of Nkunda resemble those in Luwero, then you are trying to tell the world that the brutality of UPC in Luwero is the god parent of Nkunda. I wish you people can remember what UPC guys like Pilato in the west did against people in Kasese, Ibanda, and Fort Potal areas. Then remember Tom Rubaya who even killed mad men and women in Masindi that they were spies of NRA, then Omeja in Hoima who would kill mercilessly in Hoima. You can privately approach people like Mattia Kisembo of Buyaga. He is an honest man and will share with you what he knows of the past.

This Omeja in Hoima even one time wanted to kill a whole bus of students from Kyangwali Settlement but changed his mind and instead whipped them. It is in record! The bus belonged to Cyilil (a Mukyotera) from Hoima. Omeja was wondering how the bus could be full of Rwandese students. The fool forgot that education was and is a basic human right. This is just a sample of examples for you people.

To say that UPC was a government in power, you may serve us better to tell us why a Government in power would torture, maim and kill its own people. Who would then defend them? By the way we can not forget that it forced itself in power through stealing elections. The only way to silence questioneers and opposers was to harrass, intimidate and kill. The consequencies were very clear. It became un popular and in a revolution manned by NRA/NRM, it had to be toppled.

Those who research for RK about many things are like you and we don't expect any positive reporting for you are known to fear the TRUTH and will do any thing possible to hide the TRUTH. However remember, you may hide but you can never ESCAPE judgement! Miria knows this well.

In response to comment number one by Kairu of Kyanaisoke-Kibaale condemning Miria Obote, (UPC: What Is Really Happening In The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) , December 6, 2008.), I would like to remind the writer [Kairu] that the five years Luwero insurgency never consumed more than 0.4 million people. During the reign of Museveni, Ugandans, Rwandese, Congolese, Sudanese, Somalis, Kenyans, Burundians have lost their live in big numbers as a result of Museveni's interferance in their political affairs.

Kairu has to bear in mind that since 1990, long after Obote had left the scene, over 7 million people have lost their lives in;

• Rwanda -- nearly to a million people where Museveni has got a hand.
• In DR Congo -- independent bodies including UN Human Rights Watch have put the number of innocent people who have lost their live to over 5 million.
• In northern Uganda -- over one million are estimated to have lost their live and nearly to 2 million have been displaced on pretext of being protected.

In the north, fellow Ugandans have been kept in the worst conditions which are not even worth for pigs. All these events have got supporting evidence that Museveni at one stage or another has had a hand in all the regional atrocities.

Start with Rwanda Genocide of 1994; Its not a secret that Kagame was a Chief of Military Intelligence in Uganda's Army until the RPF invaded Rwanda on October 1, 1990. They attacked Rwanda with Museveni's full backing as well as knowledge.

The RPF shot down Habyarimana's Mystere Falcon 50, using air-to-surface missiles owned by Uganda. Its not a secret that, the missiles used for shooting down the plane were the property of the Ugandan Army (NRA/UPDF). Uganda had been bought them from the Soviet Union in 1987.

As a result of shooting down Mystere Falcon 50 on Apri 6, 1994, all people on board died with the two presidents Cyrien Ntaryamira of Burundi and Habyarimana. Others on board include three former French military officers, a pilot, chief mechanic and a navigator that is the reason why French authorities has recently arrested Ms. Rose Kabuye to for questioning (about the death of their citizens, not the genoicde per se).

Let the agitators be warned that more officials from both Rwanda and Uganda will be arrested soon. France did not take this as a light joke, they know when and where to find those chicken thieves. Because they want justice for all people who were on Falcon Mystere 50 board. Also Juvenal Renzaho, former Habyarimana advisor, Dr. Emmanuel Akingeneye [Private Doctor], Col. Ellie Segatwa [private secretary], Army Chief Maj. Gen. Deogratias Nsabimana, presidential guard commander Maj. Thaddee Bagaragaza. There was also 2 Burundian ministers Bernard Ciza and Cyiaque Simbizi. That is where genocide started and lasted 100 days.

According to the French anti-terrorist judge Jean-Louis Bruguiere, the perpetrators of the attack, who are the Rwandan Patriotic Front and their principal backers; Uganda's Museveni, the United States and United Kingdom knew what would happen if the plane was shot down.

After the massive killing (genocide), in July whilst attending Kagame's inauguration ceremony, Museveni publicly announced his support for the action which resulted into mass murder including a terrorist act in which two heads of states died.

As recently as December 2005, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Uganda under Museveni was guilty of looting, plundering and killing of innocent civilians in the DRC. The court ordered Uganda to pay $10bn to DR Congo. Kairu of Kibaale isn't that enough evidence to prove that Museveni and his generals have killed more innocent people in the region than Obote?

I don't think that you have ever been in the NRA/UPDF ranks to ascertain you accusations against UPC, but you're talking to people who have been in the NRA since its inception. And we know what we are talking about. Maama Maria Obote has valid points to make and she spot on.

No body can dispute her [Maria Obote] statements, her statement contains factual that even worried or disorientates all the suspected war criminals in the region including Museveni who once tried to blackmail the former UN Secretary General. Museveni was trying to convince Kofi Annan to intervene and persuade ICC Prosecutor to drop the charges, (See Wall Street Journal June 8, 2006).

By the way if she was making false accusations advise your Chief Thief Museveni or his government to take legal action against Maria Obote for libel and you see the amount of dirt that will be exposed.

Everybody now is in the know who committed atrocities in Luwero and under whose command and for what aim.

A Response to Kairu's views.

I wish to thank both Mama Miria and Kairu for their views about the conflict in the Great Lakes region.

In my view, both Mama Miria and Kairu are right and do want to see peace come to the region. What we can all do is to demand an inquiry on who are behind the death of millions of people in the region. If ICJ is competent enough, then let the area of inquiry include Congo, Uganda and Rwanda covering the period 1970- 2008; in that way Miria's as well as Kairu's concerns will be addressed.

There is no need blaming Miria or Kairu, facts are on the ground, people died and more are dying, the heinous crimes must be stopped.

I used to praise Museveni thinking he was a father to Ugandans, but now my eyes and ears have been opened and I know who has trully been parents to this nation Uganda, Baba Obote and Mama Miria. UPC govt, may have had its own shortcomings but it is very bogus and childish to try to shutup a good opinion, or show of concern from the party president as regards RDC. Bwana Kairu, about Luweero, please talk about what you know and stop deceiving us here. In luweero NRA fighters led many people to the killing fields whenever they resist to 'cooporate'. They always killed whoever they suspected to 'collaborate' with govt just like Kony has been doing in the North!

I dont want to dwell so much on Luweero. Its is known fact that NRA , using its tactics from the FRONASA era, killed civillians and blamed it on govt. Ask your Man Pecos kutesa ( was in govt by then and a rebel collaborator) and Kahinda Otafire. They now chest thump themselves for that evil work. Museveni himsself, just a few weeks ago said 'we did not spill alot of blood just to turn this nation into a laughing stock'. Kairu, those are Museveni's words, not mine. Supporting Museveni on luweero is more just like supporting Kony! For your info, this Luweero area is one of the few places in Buganda that gave UPC govt most support. How then could UPC, have turned around to kill its own voters? Do you know why Sebirumbi killed Lutamaguzzi? And what happened afterwords when Museveni came to power?

On the 'mistreatment' of Rwandese during those days, I completely fail to understand kairu. Most of the socalled Banywaranda in Uganda were infact belligerents. Just like the FDLR in RDC. Obote did exactly what Kagame wants Kabila to do to the FDLR. These Tutsi beligerents were infact hatching all their rebel activities on Ugandan soil to topple Kigali. They infact joined Museveni and made sure Obote was gone. They then proceeded with their rebel plans until they invaded Rwanda, which was not bad anyway given the fact they had gone home and relieved Uganda of thousands of refugees. What would a sensible govt have done in the first place, faced with what Obote was going through? Should we have also allowed the govt in Rwanda to equally hunt them here in Uganda? The way it has done in RDC? kairu, your comments on Miria Obote are just a show of personal hatred , otherwise there is no point at all. What she is saying on behalf of UPC as regards RDC is very correct.

The problem with you so called NRM diehards is that, you want us to forever forgive Museveni just becaues he ' liberated' us ( from corruption? election theft? Or what? ). You want Ugandans to keep quiet whenever M7 and his henchmen steal. You want us to keep quiet AT ALL the evils of these NRM gangsters (or mafia?) govt does. When people complain of corruption, you only say 'go and work and stop blaming govt!'. You want Ugandans to continue working for these robbers, the way its in NSSF now: Saving for Mbabazi and Suruma's future! The Congo war, led by Nkunda is just a proxy one. Nkunda as a person is indeed fighting another person's war. This same belligerent Nkunda, along with Bemba and others signed for power sharing govt in kinshasa with Kabila. All of a sudden, he abandoned govt and ran to the bush. Why didnt he try to solve his problems with Kabila peacefully, from within, since he was also in govt? So because Rwandese suffered under UPC (Uganda is not their country in the first place), Congolese should also suffer, EVERY body should also suffer because Tutsis suffered?! I bet you, ALL these actions of our Nkunda, Museveni and Kagame will one time come back to haunt them and their people! What you are doing is just a 'panadol' for temporal pain relief but not medicine. You are only propagating a repeat of the unfortunate 1994 massacre. You are slowly but surely telling other ethinicities in Great Lakes region NEVER to FORGIVE, NEVER to FORGET, which is very very dangerous.

1- where the 850 shs levied on each liter of petrol goes. Ministry of Finance as usual are not 'aware'.

2- Why oil prices in Uganda have failed to reduce despite a very big fall on the world market. Other nations in E.A have lowered prices!

3-Why a mere 21km Northern bypass road fails to be complete after close to 100bn going down the drain.

4-why the 'effective' NRM govt allows drugs worth billions to expire in NMS, and worse still, need shs 800m to despose of them. Yet hospitals are empty.

5-Why Museveni himself cannot compromise security of his children so takes them abroad for mere delivery of babies, when he is busy telling us of free medical services in Uganda.

Thank you RK for the information you are giving Ugandans. I have read Kairu's comments with awe. He seems to be living in air like birds which do not have to care for the next day because they are guaranteed of the next meal from God.

He says long live NRM as if there is anything to be proud of. Look at what is happening in all sectors of life. Hospitals have no basic sundries like gloves. On Dec 11 there was a bus accident on Mbarara Kampala road. when those that sustained injuries were brought to the emegency ward, nurses had to scratch their heads looking for cotton wool and gloves to work on these desperate patients but wapi they did not have what to use and whom to ask for the sundries. Yet this is the biggest referral hospital in the region!

Kairu goes ahead and says Obote's government had people serving it who were rogues, yes they were there but how many atrocities have been commited by this regime? Look at who killed Mamenero and for what reason? What happened to people of Mukula who were roasted by the then NRA that had liberated them. Actually I have a quastion for Kairu? What were we liberated from when our people of the north are dying like rats? When one is looking for information on how many people Museveni killed you do not need to go very far. He is on record for several times claiming that on this and that day we killed 2000 LRA rebels, the other day we killed so many at Minakuru and so on and so forth.

The list is endless. Who does not know that LRA was abducting children and trained them as child soldiers to come and fight Museveni?

Kairu stop being naive and face reality, NRM government is tired and is about to sink. My worry is that it will sink with us Ugandans who have no cause to sink with it.

I wish to respond to the UPDF Major from BOMBO that if anything, he deserves a refresher course at Kimaka or better, to go to Munduri if the State can do it. He is depicting an officer less THAN WHAT he claims to be.

In his COMMENT, no. 4 he shamelessly attests that the downing of Falcon 50 which carried Habyarimana and other people was the cause of genocide or rather a ticket to send a way the Tutsi to THE GRAVES enmass within the infamous 90 days of 1994. As a soldier he ought to know that in a situation of war, death is as next to any one involved. Besides, as a human being Habyarimana and the crew were not eternal, especially owing to the circumstances underwhich they were travelling. Can the Major tell the world where the black box of that falcon is to today? Is it not shielded by those responsible and now to hoodwink the world turn round to arrest innocent Rose Kabuye, hence bringing to shame what civilization is all about let alone universal jurisdiction.

For his information the Major out to know that 1994 genocide was but a climax of the murderous regime of Habyarimana and his cohots of MRND.
