Dear Radio Katwe,
Please allow me a space in your esteemed website to contribute towards the Zimbabwe debate, a current topic in African and world media.
The Johannesburg based Associated Press on 05/07/08 carried an article entitled "West condemns Mugabe but ignores other leaders". In the Daily Monitor of 08/07/08 Augustine Ruzindana, one of the courageous Ugandans to vote with his feet rather than continue to serve the kleptocratic and murderous regime, wrote an article titled "AU summit finds no freedom in Uganda", followed by what I believe to be a satirical analysis/commentary by him, about the nearly identical human rights situation in Zimbabwe to what obtained in Uganda during and soon after the last election. The reported arrest and mistreatment of Mr. Morgan Tsvangirai and harassment of opposition demonstrators was greeted with consternation in Western media, while previously the arrest, false imprisonment of Dr. Kiiza Besigye (FDC leader) and the gunning down of opposition supporters in Uganda received little or no attention from the those who profess to be the custodians of democracy and human rights in the world.
The answer to this apparent double standard was bluntly given away by a very prominent American, when asked, by a fellow American, about two African Presidents (names withheld): What do you think of President X. The answer, "he is a bastard". What about President Y. The answer was also prompt; "he is also a bastard". Then why do condemn President X and support President Y. Again he answered promptly; "Can't you see that President Y is our bastard?"
The Monitor's regular columnist, Timothy Kalyegira very professionally studied and analyzed all the recent Zimbabwe's economic indicators,(Daily Monitor 05/07/08) which not surprisingly, are "bullish", to use the stock market term, yet the Western media continues to carry alarmist reports of economic melt down, nearly 2 million percent inflation, etc. Mr.Kalyergira's suspicion of a possible Anglo-Saxon economic sabotage of Zimbabwe's economy is possibly right. Sometime last year a Senior Official of Zimbabwe Central Bank fled the country to the UK , when it was discovered that he was in cahoots with foreign power to flood the country with bogus currency notes! The British refused to extradite him, to face criminal charges, even though I believe there is extradition treaty between the two countries! So, their wild inflation figure may well be right, since they know the quantity of false currency pumped into the economy. Just like they knew that Saddam had built a super gun, only because the British company Matrix Churchill supplied all the necessary materials, at a price of 1 billion-See "Trading with the Enemy", by John Sweeney of the Observer (ISBN:0-330-33128-0). Another indicator is that, whereas the British establishment was quick to impose ban on Zimbabwe cricket team, Barclays is staying put; neither is the platinum deal worth 260 million Pound going to be cancelled in protest. Perhaps the most positive indicator of all is that the absentee landlords who control both houses of the British parliament are not giving up their ill-gotten land holdings in protest!
The Anglican Bishop, Rt.Rev.Nicholas Baines of Croydon, Greater London, led a fact finding mission to Zimbabwe in April, 2007, commented on arrival in Zimbabwe : "We see a lot of propaganda on our television stations but we can not see the evidence here". He went on to say, "colonialism was gone forever and Britain had no right to dictate what Zimbabwe should do"-New African, May, 2007, page 117. This report was quickly swept under the carpet by the powerful alliance of political establishment and corporate Britain . Notwithstanding the above facts the likes of Bishop Tutu were (it seems) ordered to ignore this report, from one of their own senior church leader. The bishop therefore continued chanting his litany of "Mugabe, Mugabe," instead of concentrating on the more urgent issues facing their church in the run up to the Lambeth conference. The same bishop has never said a word about the many innocent. Africans (from countries that contributed so much to the liberation of South Africa from apartheid rule), who were killed by rampaging mobs recently in white controlled South Africa! Equally he has not commented on the recent incident in their University campus where racist white students deliberately urinated on black students? The answer seems to be that he only echoes "his masters" voice. Which reminds me of the old gramophone records, so appropriately named. The logo was even more telling, a dog squatting on its two hind legs!
The powers that be are careful to make sure that Britain's violation of the Lancaster House independence agreement is not made known to their people. Their electorates know nothing about these secrets. That is how the Anglo-Saxon "free world" operates!.
The issue in Zimbabwe is about land and other resources. This secret was exposed by one British letter writer, in the Times of London on 27th June, 2008 (the day of Zimbabwe's presidential election re-run). He was brave enough to write, "Let us return this land without further delay. This will offer their people a new start and prove a lot cheaper than a military invasion"- Eric Spielman, Loughton, Essex.
The imperial power which ruled Africa never had it so nice! Now that the intellectual, honest and visionary African leaders like Nyerere, Nkrumah, etc, are gone, they have resurfaced and identified a weakness in the leaderships (most of them came to power as a result of their machinations) in the continent. They are determined to cling on to Africa without shame or mercy, using different tactics. The excuse used to be that they were in Africa to stop the Russians! The Russians left over two decades ago but the West is still busy increasing its stranglehold on the continent, like leeches. Democracy, human rights, for instance have become their popular "Rottweiler" unleashed only against leaders who are not serving their interests. Similarily words like "globalisation" are used to pull wool over our eyes. The "international community" in fact means Anglo-Saxon opinion. The UN and all its organs are tightly controlled by them. The other European countries especially the France ,(under Sarkozy) are mere slack variables in the international Anglo-Saxon political equation. The Anglo-Saxons and other former imperial powers in the name of "globalisation" own land, oil and other mineral recourses across the "third world". How many African companies/individuals own land, oil and mineral resources in Europe or America ? Why then should Africa's corrupt dunderheads give away cheaply, our God given bounties which should be used to give our people decent environments to live in. Is it any wonder that Africa, despite its vast resources, is associated with underdevelopment, poverty and massive human sufferings!. The problem is not therefore in our stars that the West heaps relentless insults on our race, but it is our leaders (rather rulers) that we are weaklings, and spat upon by the rest of the world.
We Africans would do well to remember the brutish history of the British. From a small poor and obscure island of Europe , in the 16th century, without any civilization to their credit, they have since built a vast empire and now walk tall in the world, only because they remain consistently ahead of the rest of the world in the technology of death. It is this technology, rather than their brain power which has enabled them, to invade by force of arms and steal more than two continents, ie, the whole of North America, Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania, plus many other land claims such as the Malvinas, Gibralter, Diego Garcia, etc, around the world. In most cases the inhabitants have been exterminated, and the countries re-populated with their own stock of people. In the USA , so many treaties were signed with Native Americans only later to be violated by the invaders. Today all the Red Indian reservations are occupied by the invaders. Similarily in New Zealand the treaty of Waitangi (1840) was, a few generations down the line, treated like waste paper by the invaders. All that the Queen of England recently offered to them was something called "apology". This was followed this year by "compensation" of over 200 million Pounds, paid with money earned from their own land and labour! What use is the money when the Maoris are now virtually extinct? It seems to me like the killer paying "amataaba" (funeral expenses) using the deceased's own money! How generous and humane of them! If we naively give away our land to foreigners ( local or from abroad), we run the risk of courting our own extermination.
What is happening in Zimbabwe goes against white supremacists' believe that Blacks do not deserve good things such as the bountiful resources gifted to us by God. To them it is "pearls before swines".
The MDC in Zimbabwe was allegedly started, only a few years ago, by White farmers, to defend their ill-gotten land. It was only after a careful consideration that they realized that for the party to attain political power it must be headed by a black Zimbabwean. So was born (politically) Morgan Tsvangaria, that the world knows today.
As for our situation in Uganda , the report recently of one patriotic Uganda in your website (06/07/08) titled "Kabarole, what is happening up here. Gold being mined and processed at the plant", where no Africans are allowed to go, comes as no surprise. Vultures from South Africa, Europe and America are descending on Uganda and robbing us of our minerals, and soon the oil. The likes of Landa and family living under different names in the country are depleting our mines and salting their loot in a clandestine triangular trade between their hideouts in Uganda, London, New York. They are warned that they should be very afraid indeed, because very soon they will be "outed", more than the US based UDC newsletter ever did in the 90s!. We can no longer remain silent when our people are dying daily from lack of medicines in our hospitals, from "AIDS" cultured in USA laboratories and exported to Africa to deplete our population. Note, Kevin Myers, an independent columnist writes audaciously, on 12/07/08 asserting that "Africa gives nothing to the world, except AIDS"-http.www.independent.ie/opininion...
It is pathetic that despite the White insults being heaped on our race, African leaders today instead of asking how aids began are busy queuing to ask for money to treat AIDS from the originators of AIDS or seeking their protection to ensure that they remain in the monster's good books. Who needs their aid when Africa is replete wild oil, minerals, vast arable lands, etc. Some of these leaders seem to recognize "money" only when printed into dollar/euro or sterling paper forms!
Africa's relation with the West is nearly 450 years old, (300 years as bonded slaves, 100 years as colonies and 50 years under neo-colonialism) has produced nothing except suffering in abject poverty, collateral effects of civil wars fermented and financed by the West, etc. My suggestion is that the AU should constitute a special Economic Authority which should see the phasing out of all former colonial countries, including the USA , from the continent. Their control of our oil, lands and mineral resources must be terminated immediately. Africa should begin to look to the East for partnership in development. See a leading article in New African (No.475) of July, 2008, pg 76.
As for our Uganda we must not wait for the 2011 election, which is a mere delaying tactic to legitimize M7's life presidency. In any case we all know that the election will be rigged with the approval of the West. The fraudulent acquisition of large chunks of land in Buganda and soon in Amuru district and elsewhere in the country should make it imperative to rid the country of this ruling cabal immediately. Thanks to RK, which has made more and more Ugandans, including the soldiers, to wake up from twenty years of slumber. The US based UDC newsletter tried to do the same but the country remained obdurate, glued to eating the leftovers from Alibaba & Co. In the words of the late Dr. Simon .Kasumba- RIP(RK 21/02/08), in his clarion call to action, before the last election: "let us salvage whatever is left of our country". As for those still hanging on to the regime, for their stomachs' sake, they had better take note of the African saying that "the flies which refuse to leave the carcass run the risk of soon being buried with it"

Dear Patriot,
Thank you for advice to Ugandans and Africa in general. You said some very wise things and you should be commended for that.
But some views on Zimbabwe bring to mind a story about two people who both have problems in a very sensitive place which is the eye.
It seems like the one who has a log in the eye is straining very hard to make sure the spot in the others eye is removed. Those who know the saying better can enlighten us.

The article below says that: the Zimbabwe platinum deal is worth 260 million Pound.
But in the "Epoch Newspaper" (a C.I.A sponsored, Chinese Falugong paper here in Toronto) the figure is quoted as 260 billion
